Functional Bitcoin Vancouver is a community focused on exploring cutting-edge Bitcoin scaling solutions and protocol enhancements. We dive deep into the technical innovations that expand Bitcoin's capabilities through Layer 2 protocols, covenant proposals, and advanced scripting features.
Our group combines regular study sessions with hands-on hackathon projects, demonstrating what can be built using emerging Bitcoin technologies like Lightning Network improvements, covenant opcodes, vaults, and other scaling solutions.
Study Groups - Technical deep-dives into proposed opcodes (CTV, CSFS, OP_CAT), scaling architectures (channel factories, joinpools), and protocol improvements. We analyze BIPs, review implementations, and discuss trade-offs.
Build Sessions - Hands-on workshops where we prototype and experiment with new Bitcoin technologies. Past projects include Taproot Assets integrations and Lightning Network applications.
Hackathons - Hackathons focused on building practical demonstrations of theoretical proposals.
